We offer an excursion on March 11th for those conference participants who are interested. Due to the limited number of participants, pre registration is required. Payment will follow separately.
On the day of the excursion you will visit the heat and power plant “Nossener Brücke”, which produces approximately three quarters of Dresden's power demand. It uses the produced thermal energy as district heating. The cogeneration provides an optimal usage of raw materials and helps to relieve the environment of contaminants.
High up on a vineyard in Lößnitz you will have a breathtaking view over the Elbe Valley all the way to Dresden. You can enjoy plain cooking and Saxon wines in the panorama restaurant.
After lunch the excursion will lead further into the scenery of the Elbe Valley. For more than 100 years, printing presses have been produced here in Radebeul near Dresden.
KBA-Sheetfed Solutions, which is located there, is an independent business unit and responsible for development, construction, contribution and after-sales of all sheet offset facilities of half size up to super-size formats. Added to this are peripheral installations in relation to the sheet offset. In both Würzburg as well as the location in Radebeul, KBA Industrial solutions also produces components for printing presses and external customers.
All conference participants are cordially invited to attend the following social events:
On Tuesday evening a casual Get Together in the exhibition area of the International Congress Center Dresden will take place. Here you can sign in for the conference, get your Conference Proceedings and a first glimpse of the exhibition.
The Conference Banquet will take place in the atrium of the Albertinum in Dresden. The Albertinum, a museum for art from Romanticism to the present, is located in the heart of Dresden near the Church of Our Lady (Frauenkirche) and the Brühlsche Terrace. There, a diverse buffet along with an entertainment programme awaits you in an elegant atmosphere. Please register for this event in advance. You may bring an additional guest if you would like someone to accompany you.
Professor Weber and his team send all participants a warm invitation to the closing social event of the conference in the test lab of the Institute of Fluid Power. Shuttle busses will be provided for transportation from the International Congress Center Dresden to the “Kutzbach-Bau” building at TU Dresden where the Institute is located.
For accompanying persons not participating in the conference, we offer a cultural frame program on March 9th and 10th. The cultural program will cost an extra fee and requires registration.
A short bus ride will take you from Dresden to the Königstein Fortress. At the foot of the unique fortress and in close proximity to the river Elbe lies the town of Königstein, inhabited by 2400 people. It got its name due to the former castle and late fortress, which was officially mentioned for the first time in 1241. A guided tour will lead you through this unique monument of the art of European fortress construction and you will learn about its 800 years of history and experience its impressive architecture. In the afternoon you will visit the palace garden of Pillnitz, which Augustus the Strong gave to his mistress Countess Cosel as a present, and where he celebrated his baroque festivities. On your way through the palace garden you will pass an abundance of botanical treasures such as the over 230 year old camellia, approximately 400 tub plants and valuable old trees. The camellia, which is covered by a glass house during winter times, has reached a height of 8.60 meters and a diameter of almost 11 meters by now. You can witness its flowering period with tens of thousands of crimson colored, bell-shaped blossoms from mid-February until April.
Join us for an interesting city tour through Dresden. Past the Waldschlösschenbrücke to the three Elbe castles with a tour through their beautiful parks. After taking lunch you discover Dresden's historic city with all its old and new sights during a guided tour.
